Who we are

Seeing the whole picture changes what's possible.

A connected perspective for complex challenges

Achieving systemic impact requires a deep understanding of the interconnected roots of global inequalities. Progress on health, climate, and equity does not follow a linear path. It will be enabled by collective tipping points.

Common Thread Consultancy combines triangulated data, expert perspectives and a bird's-eye view of the ecosystem to help organisations make informed, intentional investments.

We help partners understand what works, design for transformation, track progress and uncover real-world insights that AI alone cannot provide.

Behind our symbol

An ancient motif.
A common thread.

Our logo is inspired by a motif frequently used in East European embroidery called “Hands on hips”, as well as the ancient female figurines from the Cucuteni–Trypillia culture.

The two side spirals evoke the female hands on hips, the ultimate power pose. The same motif has been used for thousands of years on Turkish kilims (tapestry-woven carpets), where it is known as elibelinde. It is thought to have originated from the shapes and style of ancient female figurines.

The Cucuteni–Trypillia culture was one of the earliest civilisations in Europe, and archaeologist Marija Gimbutas proposed that it may have been a society centred on the worship of an earthy mother goddess. Figurines from that era often feature lozenges (see the one on the right).

Symbols are, and always have been, a powerful cultural force: linking people across countries, languages, and geographies, and helping us remember and appreciate universal values.
